How many British people living or owning a property in France actually know what cover they have.

When I first arrived in France I went to a leading French bank to open a bank account, i was also offered a number of policies which I deemed important and fully covered me until I tried to claim on one of them.

I also found when i was taking out a policy an English speaking adviser was on hand to help me. But when I needed help to make to make a claim there was no English speaking person available and when I managed to get some help I found out that every policy I had taken out did not give me sufficient cover..

Then my 73 year old mother had a flood and had taken out a policy with a major French Bank who said she was covered. The damage was about 12,000€ but when the loss adjuster arrived, she found out that she was in fact not covered

The second time she encountered a problem was during a gale which caused a lot of damage to the roof and guttering which has period features. The costs to repair this were very expensive and to her horror the policy did not offer sufficient cover.

We are by no means the only people who have encountered these types of problems, so with that in mind as a IFA in the UK I decided to setup the finance brokerage to do FRENCH INSURANCE with a view to offering better cover.
